If you know me well enough, you will know that I would rather do anything than sell my soul, posting about products that I don’t even like. This post contains affiliate links which I am so excited to recommend to you (and make just a little money from) and would hope that if you have the opportunity to recommend products you love, you would do the same.
Regardless of whether you have a significant other, Valentine’s Day is a great way to show the people around you how much you love them.
Valentine’s Day is a very special holiday in our house because February is the month of both of my daughter’s birthdays, so the entire month is filled with hearts and celebrations. I shared 3 Easy + Delicious Valentine’s Cocktails (including one Mocktail for the kiddos) in my previous post.
I’ve had it on my list of things to do for some time now to organize my basement storage room to look like The Home Edit rainbow organizational system. (If you haven’t checked them out…just do, it’s eye candy for the organizational lovers!) For now, I have labeled boxes for each holiday season that I have kept over the years, taken away and added to the contents. I’ll just continue dreaming that this is what my basement looks like.
1. Shop Your Home.
Do a quick walk through your home and pick out things that you have on hand or decor that you are using in a different room of the house that would suit your Valentine’s Day Theme.
2. Purchase A Few Extras.
Once you know what you have around the house, decide if you need one or two more items to enhance what you already had. This year, I treated myself to these adorable Pink Sparkle Turkish Heart Plates that I found at HomeSense to add on top of my regular white round dinner plates.
3. Set The Table
Set the table with your regular dishes, glassware, utensils and put the things you have collected from around the house in the centre of the table. Now it’s time to PLAY! You may want to have made these Best Ever {Healthy + Fudgy} Zucchini Brownies ahead of time so that you have some chocolate inspiration while you set up your table.
4. Treat Yourself to Flowers
Stop + smell the roses and treat yourself to a beautiful arrangement or fresh cut flowers from your local florist. Aren’t these roses absolutely stunning from Michelle’s Flowers. Besides the fact that Michelle is just a gem, she always knows the perfect blooms for every occasion. Follow Michelle’s Flowers on Instagram for some serious floral swooning.
5. Don’t Forget the Sweet Treats
What even is Valentine’s Day if not for expressing love through Sweet Treats! Cupcakes, Cookies + Sweets, Oh My! These treats from Crave Cupcakes + Cookies are always the way to my heart and you will love them too! With locations in Calgary, Edmonton + Saskatoon, you can support local and indulge!
6. Take A Moment to Spend Time With Someone You Love
Now that you’ve finished setting up your table, invite your partner, kids or bestie to the table (even if it has to be virtual this year) and let them know how much you love them. They will see the love that has gone into your set up and while you sip on cocktails and indulge in treats, you will feel your heart grow by at least 3 sizes just because you took the time to show the love.
