How to Host an Epic Virtual Game Night

Need creative ways to pass the time while social distancing? My husband and I ave been having a lot of fun hosting virtual game nights with friends. We have only yet played with 2 other people at a time, for a total of 4 but I’m sure you could make this work with larger groups, it just might take a bit more organizing.

  1. Invite friends

    • Send a text.

    • Make a phone call.

    • Be creative with an e-vite.

  2. Pick your Game on JackBox Games.

    • While there are many different online game options, this has been the one we have enjoyed the most. We purchased the JackBox Party Pack 3 and JackBox Party Pack 4 to have a selection of games to try.

    • Our favorite games so far are:

      • Drawful

      • Quiplash 2

      • Guesspionage

      • Tee K.O

  3. Connect Together.

    • To start, just hop on a videoconferencing service (like Zoom, Google Meet or Google Hangouts). Start a game on your laptop and use the screen sharing option so that players you’re on a call with can see the game. Everyone can play along on their own mobile devices by using a browser and going to Jackbox.tv.

    • We have found that sometimes having the sound of the game from the computers on both ends can make it hard to hear each other chat throughout the game, so we have often muted our friends sound and just chatted through a phone call on speaker phone while we play, but are still seeing each other on the video conferencing service on the computer.

  4. Mix up a drink.

    • Check out some really fun, easy cocktail options from my blog post on 5 Easy Ingredient Cocktails to Make Social Distancing Fun.

  5. Have fun!

I would love to hear how your Virtual Game Night goes and any other games you have found fun!

Cheers to Celebrating Simple Life!
