6 Ways to get Unstuck

If you know me well enough, you will know that I would rather do anything than sell my soul, posting about products that I don’t even like. It can feel incredibly hopeless when you are in a situation, trying to make life decisions but all roads seem to lead nowhere. If living through a world pandemic has taught me anything, it has made me realize that often, without realizing it, we allow our thoughts, mindset, habits and routine to be on repeat, causing a cycle to continue repeating itself, leaving us wondering how to move forward. Here are 6 ways to get unstuck that will allow you to shift your patterns into creating change in your life.
#1 - Write down everything that is bothering you.
In order to get where you want to go, you need to know what is holding you back. Find some quiet, grab a pen and a journal and think through today, this past month, this past year and let your mind take inventory of the areas of your life that aren’t working (and the areas that are working too!). Write down moments that caused you stress, people that have been challenging and memories that pop up as you reflect.
#2 - Get Moving!
Whether it is a brisk walk, going to the gym or a game of pickle ball. Get moving! Break a sweat, raise your heart rate and clear your mind. Let it all go!
#3 - Try something new.
Sometimes just the act of doing something that you haven’t done before can help reset your brain into finding clarity. Cook something new, make a photo book, drive somewhere you’ve never been and take photos, eat at a new restaurant, message a friend you haven’t talked to in a while, take a language class, build something or rearrange the furniture in one of the rooms in your house. Anything to get your mind thinking about something differently.
#4 - Say Goodbye to the things that need to go.
Reflect back on your list of what’s not working and make a plan to get unstuck by removing people, places, things, tasks, ideas, clutter and anything that isn’t serving you in this season.
#5 - Determine what is making you really happy right now.
What do you need more of in your life? What are the little things and big dreams you have the spark joy? That delicious cup of coffee every morning, reading a chapter of your favorite book, calling a friend, going for a walk, Sunday brunch. Add as many of these moments into your days as you can.
#6 - Ask for help!
We actually don’t have to do life by ourselves….nor should we! Speaking to a friend about a new idea or a struggle, booking that session with a therapist, calling a business colleague to pick their brain on a new concept or having a family discussion about what is going on in your life are all ways to encourage community instead of thinking we all have to have it figured out by ourselves.
